La mostra, che inaugura in concomitanza con il 90° compleanno della diva, si concentra sul “backstage” della esistenza di una donna che è riuscita ad affermarsi in un mondo maschile come quello del cinema, costruendo scientemente la sua immagine.

Abiti, fotografie, documenti d’epoca, ma anche oggetti di cosmesi appartenuti a Marilyn sono presentati con un taglio del tutto innovativo, da cui emerge, in assoluta anteprima per l’Italia, la donna forte, sicura della propria femminilità, impegnata nelle battaglie per la parità di genere e, al contempo, lucida e moderna donna in carriera. I pezzi della collezione di Ted Stampfer provengono dalla casa d’aste Christie’s e rivelano tanti gesti quotidiani propri della donna e non della diva.

La mostra arricchisce questo racconto con testi e audio di accompagnamento.

THE EXHIBITION

Famous and admired at international level, for the first time in Italy from the Thessaloniki State Museum of Contemporary Art, a fundamental selection of the amazing Russian Avant-Garde George Costakis collection: the man that decided to challenge the prohibitions and ostracism of the Stalinist regime in Moscow during the years immediately following World War II, by collecting proves of the experimental art of the beginning of the century, which saved this vital component of the twentieth century culture from destruction and oblivion.

The exhibition “Russian Avant-Garde from the Costakis collection”, with around 300 works exhibited - among which paintings, guaches, watercolors, works of applied art, documents and a core of about a hundred of drawings on the constructivist architecture – constitutes a real encyclopedic exposure of the Russian Avant-Garde, representative of all the main movements of the time (from New Impressionism and Symbolism to Cubo-Futurism, from Suprematism to Cosmism), rich in artworks of the major artists of that time such as Malevich, Popova, Rodčenko, Rozanova, El Lissitzky, Stepanova.

An outdoor itinerary of contemporary art that reinvents the streets and squares of the city, lighting them up with striking installations of great visual impact.

Luci d’Artista come back to light up streets, squares and spaces of Turin, with nineteen installations of public art dedicated to the light and its variations. The 2014 edition opens Saturday, November 1st , and includes the relocation of the works that in the last sixteen years have become the symbol of passion for contemporary art in Turin.

A Christmas to remember in Torino

A magical atmosphere pervades the streets and squares of Torino illuminated by the Artist’s Lights.

From 1 December the historic Nativity Scene by Emauele Luzzati settles the Borgo Medievale,

while in Piazza Castello shares the traditional countdown of the Advent Calendar in the presence of a majestic Christmas tree;

in Piazza San Carlo on 31 December, outdoor New Year’s Eve party. And then… gospel music and Christmas carols in the churches of the city center, the Christmas Market in Borgo Dora, the ice skating rink in Piazza Carlo Alberto and street theatre, magic, circus shows…
